"PARALLEL is a series of digital illustrations that respond to current human relations issues. This series addresses the difference, opposites and social inequalities, and seeks a link to connect to contemporary times.
I use different techniques such as collage, traditional drawing, charcoal and digital art. Digital art allowed me to combine all my techniques into one, developing brushes, textures, atmospheres, now from a computer.
My illustrations have always been an ironic and poetic reflection of real life. I appropriate conventions and common situations to create a new reality. I imagine a life on pause, like a photograph before the click, like a theater scene where we are all extras waiting to play the main role.
I see my art as a defense mechanism against reality, to combat the circumstances of life."

"This piece holds a certain sentimental value for me due to the context that it was created in. Funnily enough, this was first drawn on a piece of scrap paper in the middle of class when I was 16. One could say that it truly captures how students are just pawns of the education system, and that passive learning is the key to 'success'. However, less artistically, I had let my pencil guide me in the moment, without any notion of such concepts. In my opinion, this adds greater value to this piece of artwork as it captured my true subconsciousness, including my introverted personality, my preference for wavy hair, and was the first product of my subsequently discovered art style.
The squiggles at the back, however, hold even more meaning. They were drawn by one of my closest friends and deskmate, whom I have not seen or talked to in a while. She loved horses, and was taught how to draw a pig (top right hand corner) by her kindergarten teacher:

Half circle, half circle, another big circle,
Double-U, double-U
e-e-e.
It's amazing how a sketch can bring back so many fond memories."
